I’m Neil and I’m currently in my final year of a BS in Economics at UCL. Over my time at uni I’ve come into contact with a huge amount of information and ideas and this is my attempt to put some of it in a more useful format. The goals of this website are primarily selfish although I hope that in someway my selfish actions can, as if guided by an invisible hand, create some value for anyone coming across them. The two main goals are:
- Force myself to go back over what I have learnt/read and create some meaningful output out of it so that I remember and come to grips with the concepts more
- Create a site that I would love to stumble across
In this task I have had quite a few templates/inspirations, below are just some of the pages/people I think will provide you with hours of enjoyment, likely much more than my little site. The list should grow over time but below is a very good starting point.
Sam Altman: chairman of Y Combinator and all around very smart guy
Marc Andreessen: Founding partner of VC firm
Alexey Guzey: One of the main inspirations for me starting this
Julian Schrittwieser: Programmer at Deepmind
Gwern: Independent researcher
Farnam street: Not a person but probably more full of interesting articles than any other site
Patrick Collison: CEO and Co-founder of stripe
Below is a quick overview of what the different sections are about/for
Maths: I’ve always enjoyed maths so this section is full of random mathematical formulas and techniques that I think are useful/interesting to know. There will also be some posts about using maths in actual situations/which maths is the most useful to know and my views on what I think should change with the way maths is taught.
Uni: My thoughts on my time at uni and what I think I could have done differently/what I found really helped me
Books: My attempts to create useful and informative versions of the notes I make on books
Bookshelf: current reading lists/books I have read
